Connecticut school-sports policy generally allows transgender students to participate according to gender identity. Federal litigation and policy changes have renewed debate over Title IX, competitive fairness, inclusion, privacy, and whether one rule can fit every sport and age level. The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference administers many interscholastic competition rules. The state can use gender identity, sex assigned at birth, sport-specific evidence, protected and open divisions, or continued school and athletic-association discretion. Students deserve both a place to participate and confidence that competition is fair. Connecticut should use evidence and distinguish casual youth participation from higher-stakes varsity contests instead of pretending every sport presents the same question.
